Create New Survey

To create a new survey, select Create New Survey from the "Surveys" dropdown menu on the Enginius Dashboard.

The New Survey screen is made up of the following areas:

1. Survey Actions

Save Survey:  save the current survey design for future access.

New Survey:  create a new survey.

Preview Survey (only available once a survey has been saved): allows you to go through the survey as your users would but your answers will not be saved. You can iterate between survey design and preview until you are satisfied that the survey meets your requirements.

Activate Survey (only available once a survey has been saved): turn on the survey for accepting responses.

Duplicate Survey: duplicate the existing survey design.

Delete Survey: delete the existing survey and associated responses.

While a survey is active, you can only make text corrections. You can't make any changes that would affect the survey's structure, like adding or removing blocks, adding or removing dynamic fields within the blocks, changing the order of the blocks within the survey, etc.

If you want to make such changes, you must deactivate the survey first.

When the survey is active, you will see two additional options in Survey Actions:

Deactivate Survey: turn off the survey for accepting responses. You may then make changes to your survey structure if needed.

Get Survey Link: get a link to the survey that you may provide to people you wish to fill out your survey.

2. Survey Blocks

The Enginius survey feature is designed to simplify the creation of surveys for obtaining data for use within Enginius.  There is a Survey Block for several Enginius modules which contains data collection templates that you can drag and drop into your survey.  You can include templates from two or more modules (e.g., segmentation and positioning) in the same survey. You will then be asked to enter the appropriate text within the template to customize it for your application (see example below for Positioning analysis).

Once you customize a template, Enginius will construct the survey for deployment based on the inputs you provided.  By using the “Preview Survey” button, you can iterate between the inputs you provide and how the questionnaire will look for the respondent.

3. Survey Title

The "Survey Title" is a required field and will be used to identify the survey in Survey Dashboard. The survey title will also show up in the browser’s tab or as the window heading when a respondent is answering the survey.

4. Introduction

The introduction is the opening page of your survey where you can provide instructions or additional details about answering the survey. You may also upload an optional image to display on the introductory page.

5. Survey

Here, you will place the selected survey blocks that will make up your survey. After you drag a survey block into your survey, Enginius will ask you to complete the template with the specific items needed for your survey. Enginius will then develop the survey questionnaire based on your inputs.

Example Positioning survey block:

6. End of Survey

This information will display as the final page of your survey. Typically, this can be used to thank the participants.

Save Survey

After the survey design in complete, click the "Save Survey" button in the left hand column.

To distribute the survey, click the “Activate Survey” button to obtain a web link that you can send along with the invitation for respondents to participate in the survey.
